Toshiba launches mobile app for Android

 August 6, 2013

toshibaprinterThe OEM has released the e-BRIDGE print and scan app for Android smartphones and tablets.

PYMNTS reported on the launch of the new app, which Toshiba states is designed to “enhance productivity for an increasingly mobile workforce”.

The e-BRIDGE app supports all Android smartphone and tablet devices that have a software version of 2.3.3 or later, and is said to allow users to “scan from and print to” Toshiba MFPs that feature the e-BRIDGE technology, including the e-STUDIO range of machines. Scans can also be attached to emails and shared with other Android applications, with formats including JPEG, TIFF and PDF supported.

Cloud support is also featured, with users able to “upload information into the cloud and retrieve it either on the mobile device or by printing the content on a Toshiba printing device”. QR codes can also be created by the app, which can then be accessed by another smartphone or tablet to print the information stored in the code.

Bill Melo, Vice President of Marketing, Services and Solutions at Toshiba, stated: “As the mobility of today’s workforce increases and BYOD becomes more of a standard than a trend, the importance of enabling employees to scan and print from a mobile device to a multifunction product is paramount.

“Considering this new reality, the introduction of our e-BRIDGE Print & Capture now allows an organization’s personnel to work whenever and from wherever they are.”
